Join us for a practical workshop on Pastoral Counseling.
Pastoral counseling is a very intentional ministry in the church, yet not every ministry leader is adequately equipped nor prepared to function competently or appropriately in that role when the need presents itself. One who provides pastoral counseling needs to be strong in their dependence upon the Lord and the leading of the Holy Spirit, compassionate, wise, have the hide of a rhinoceros and a heart of empathy and grace, as well as knowledge of the human condition and of oneself. The workshop that Dr. Fred Lian will lead will address the important and necessary elements of an effective pastoral counselor — which is different from being a therapist — and combine that information with interactive and practical application. This is your personal invitation to participate in this time of experiential growth and community.
Dr. Fred Lian was the Pastor at GracePoint Community Church in Littleton, CO for 35 years (1985-2020). He continues to be involved in church ministry as well as with the Evangelical Presbyterian denomination. He is an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary in both the Masters and Doctoral programs, mentors several young pastors, guest preaches, counsels, travels to Kazakhstan to teach and counsel, sits on non-profit boards, does intervention work for churches in crisis, and is employed part-time at a local running store.
Ephesians 3:10 tells us that God displays his manifold wisdom to the universe through the church. How can we more closely display God's designs for our local churches? What can we do to help build a healthy local church?
Experience a day in the life of Tyndale. During your visit you can attend a class, engage with current students, have dinner with our faculty, meet with an Admissions counselor and worship with us in chapel.
