What do we mean by the term “missionary job” and raising support?
Tyndale’s focus is on training and equipping students from all over the world to be able to lead and disciple their local churches to reach their communities with the gospel. Most of our students receive either full or partial scholarships to be able to study. Tyndale relies on donations from generous churches and individuals to fund their education. This goal is only possible because at Tyndale most of the faculty and staff raise their own support through churches and individuals to be paid their monthly salary.
All of the jobs posted as missionary jobs require an individual to raise their own funds to be paid a salary through Tyndale.Â
For an EU resident, there is no need to become part of a mission agency, but the person must be able to demonstrate the amount of pledged support that will cover his or her required salary. The salary level can be set by the person based on their pledges and will be adjusted if the pledges do not remain accurate. Funds come directly to Tyndale and are receipted for tax purposes. The amount must cover Tyndale’s complete cost for the worker’s salary.
For anyone outside the EU, the person must have a mission agency or sending church that is willing and able to collect all of the pledged gifts from personal supporters on an ongoing basis. Providing those supporters with the tax-deductible receipts that are required. The agency must agree to send funds to cover Tyndale’s total costs required by the Dutch government for employing that person. Currently, to get the knowledge immigrant visa required for those outside the EU, the minimum total costs required at Tyndale on a monthly basis are €6750.
