Assistant Cook

This position is responsible for providing assistance to the cook by way of cooking meals and providing support.

Supervision Received:​ Tyndale’s Head Chef

Supervision Exercised:​ Staff Supervisor for student Community Duties

Liaise:​​​​ Dean of Students

Responsibilities

  • Helps the cook in planning menus and prepares meals in a sanitary and timely manner;To coordinate planned and emergency maintenance for Chatlos Hall and the dormitory

  • Has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the kitchen and cafeteria;

  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, the cafeteria, and the storage areas;

  • Restocks as needed

Other Duties

  • Ensures consistency in food labeling and temperature control

  • Assists in maintaining a log of all meals that are planned and food ordered in case of an absence

Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Conversational Dutch and English language abilities

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work calmly and effectively

  • Commitment to quality service

  • High standards of cleanliness and hygiene

  • Basic computer skills

Qualifications

  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures

  • Basic understanding of professional cooking

Minimum Training Provided by Tyndale

  •  General Orientation
