Assistant Cook
This position is responsible for providing assistance to the cook by way of cooking meals and providing support.
Supervision Received: Tyndale’s Head Chef
Supervision Exercised: Staff Supervisor for student Community Duties
Liaise: Dean of Students
Responsibilities
Helps the cook in planning menus and prepares meals in a sanitary and timely manner;To coordinate planned and emergency maintenance for Chatlos Hall and the dormitory
Has understanding and knowledge of how to properly use and maintain all equipment in the kitchen and cafeteria;
Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, the cafeteria, and the storage areas;
Restocks as needed
Other Duties
Ensures consistency in food labeling and temperature control
Assists in maintaining a log of all meals that are planned and food ordered in case of an absence

Conversational Dutch and English language abilities
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work calmly and effectively

High standards of cleanliness and hygiene
Basic computer skills
Qualifications
Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
Basic understanding of professional cooking
Minimum Training Provided by Tyndale
