Elizabeth Cannings, PhD

Personal

Elizabeth is originally from Guyana, South America. She completed high school in Brooklyn, New York, and later lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before relocating to Dallas, Texas. After spending 53 years in Dallas, she eventually moved to the Netherlands.

In 1976, Elizabeth became one of the original members of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, serving as the first Children’s Ministry volunteer. Over time, she transitioned into a staff position and continued serving faithfully until 2010, when she retired to become a full-time caregiver for her 90-year-old mother. She cared for her mother until her passing at age 97.

Afterward, Elizabeth returned to volunteering—first in Children’s Church on Sundays and later, following the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Awana program for the last six years before relocating to the Netherlands.

While caring for her mother, Elizabeth also worked online as an adjunct professor at Liberty University for five years. Later, she served for 5½ years as personal and ministry assistant to Dr. Tony Evans at The Urban Alternative.
