God's Design for a Healthy Church: Why Ecclesiology Matters | 9Marks Event at Tyndale

Jonathan Leeman.

The following is from Tyndale’s Dr. Derek Bass, who took the lead in organizing this event.

Friday evening Jonathan Leeman gave an excellent talk — God's Design for a Healthy Church: Why Ecclesiology Matters (see the video below) — to one of the largest crowds (ca. 150) ever in Tyndale's chapel. On Saturday he served 78 pastors/elders/church leaders from 28 Churches with 4 outstanding sessions: (1) Expository Preaching, (2) Church Planting, (3) Meaningful Membership & Discipline, and (4) Discipleship.

Here are two text messages received from Pastors who attended with their Elder Boards:

Brother! I didn’t get the chance to tell you this yesterday, but thank you so much for your great and committed work to strengthen and equip the church in the Netherlands. These past two days were another awesome fruit of that. Thanks for all your hard work. It was a great blessing for me and for the guys from our church, and I’m sure for everybody there. Grateful to labor alongside you here! Praying for a blessed service there at Grace! — Laurens (Rotterdam)

Thanks loads for Saturday, it was really helpful. It has already triggered productive discussions with my elder team. Food was fantastic! Hospitality 1st class! Really appreciate y’all putting it together. May the Lord bless you mightily! – Dan (Amsterdam)

It was a joy to serve churches like these two, and 26 others! I am thankful for 9Marks, Rick Denham, and Jonathan Leeman making this happen for the church here in Holland!

Pray for Fruit

In May of 2019 at our first conference on Expository Preaching, Dutch Baptists met International Baptists, and the result, fast-forwarding 6 years, is that two churches have been planted in the south of Rotterdam (Laurens above) and a fella named Kees van Kralingen has started teaching with me at Tyndale Theological Seminary. Kees is also mentoring these church planters in Rotterdam.

Why do I share this? Because I'm asking you to pray for more fruit to come through our gatherings!

The Lord is at work! Friday and Saturday were very encouraging days.

I came away loving the Bride of Christ all the more!
