Interpreting and Preaching the Prophets

In partnership with Geloofstoerusting and TGC Nederlands, Dr. Gentry will be teaching on the theme: “Interpreting and Preaching the Prophets.”

Reading the Prophets can be tricky, puzzling, and downright confusing at times. In these three talks Dr. Gentry will help us to better understand the presuppositions and forms of communication of the Old Testament Prophets, that we may better know and proclaim the message of the gospel from these important portions of Holy Scripture.

Dr. Gentry will address this topic in three talks, each followed by Q&A:

About Peter J. Gentry

Peter J. Gentry is Senior Professor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Co-Director of the Hexapla Institute at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served on the faculty of Toronto Baptist Seminary and Bible College and also taught at the University of Toronto, Heritage Theological Seminary, and Tyndale Seminary. Dr. Gentry is the author of many articles and book reviews, co-author of Kingdom through Covenant, 2nd ed. (Crossway, 2018) and God’s Kingdom through God’s Covenants (Crossway, 2015), and author of How to Read and Understand the Biblical Prophets (Crossway, 2017). He recently published a critical edition of Ecclesiastes for the Göttingen Septuagint (2019) and Text History of the Greek Ecclesiastes (2022).

Dr. Gentry and his wife Barb have two children: Stewart and Laura (Stephen) and three grandchildren: Joseph, Emma, and Sophie.
