On May 27 - 30 of 2025, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) hosted the European Congress on Evangelism in Berlin — 25 years after the Amsterdam 2000 conference. Church leaders from 57 countries and territories in Europe were invited to attend, with representative from Tyndale Theological Seminary being among the attendees. The Berlin Congress was the most representative gathering of Christian leaders in Europe since the Amsterdam 2000 Congress. For four days and in eight languages, well-known Christian speakers focused on the theme of Romans 1:16—being unashamed of the Gospel of Christ—to encourage believers to reignite the church with a passion for proclamation evangelism.
President Gunnar Mägi was among the selected plenary speakers for the Berlin 2025 Congress. In keeping with the theme of Romans 1:16, President Gunnar’s topic was “We Must Grasp the Utter Lostness of Mankind”.
Reflecting on the event, President Gunnar stated: “It has been a high honor to speak at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association European Evangelism Congress in Berlin to more than 1,000 Christian leaders from 55 European countries. It was a humbling privilege to share the pulpit with Franklin and Will Graham, Greg Laurie, Skip Heitzig, and other servants of our Lord. The occasion was made even sweeter by the accompanying Tyndale Theological Seminary delegation of students and staff as we were together inspired to the task of making Christ known to the world - unafraid, unashamed, unapologetic, uncompromising. Thank you, Franklin Graham, for taking the time to engage with our team and offering kind, personal words to each of us. Your leadership and warmth made this gathering unforgettable.”
Also unforgettable was the rare opportunity our Tyndale Theological Seminary representatives experienced by meeting Rev. Franklin Graham. Rev. Graham said of their time together: “I enjoyed meeting these students who came from Tyndale Theological Seminary in The Netherlands to be part of our Congress in Berlin. The president of the school, Gunnar Mägi, was one of our speakers who urged Christians to reevangelize the continent of Europe. My father, Billy Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association provided funding [and support] to help the seminary get started back in 1985. It was a privilege to hear all these years later how the school is continuing to teach and train the next generation to body proclaim God’s Word.”
